Quilting Embellishment - Inspiration Pack The Inspiration Pack is a selection of bits and pieces for those
who wish to use their own ground fabric and applique soft furnishings
or scarves, clothing, curtains etc. The pack consists of the template
of your choice as well as hand dyed multi-coloured threads (10m),
multi-col hand dyed silk satin (22" x 6"), multi-col hand
dyed velvet (22" x 6"), copper foil, hand-made paper,
beads and Indian shisha mirrors.

Secure the mirror with a cross type pattern. Then add buttonhole
stitch around the edge. It doesn't really matter how you do the
cross pattern as long as is holds the mirror tightly to the fabric.
Alternatively make a tube from rolled up paper a little smaller
than the mirror and then make the cover separately. Stitch it in
place using small running stitches. Metal Foil The metal can be cut into circles and attached in the same way
as the mirrors. It can also be attached to the fabric using a sewing
machine and zig zag stitch with a strong needle. Small squares or
triangles can be used as a decorative border. Or add a shower of
gold leaves to the main design.
Hand made Paper
Tear into strips and stitch onto the work as a decorative border.
The cut edges can be wet and remolded with the fingers to give a
hand made edge. If you want to make greetings cards it is best to
add the torn hand made paper to a plain greetings/ post card and
then decorate it with scraps of silk or velvet. Beads
Add a few beads into the flower centres or on insects to add sparkle
and shine.
